A week earlier, he had become a large minority shareholder at The Arena Group, but had no official title. The company Bhargava claimed to be taking over was so poorly run that he questioned the intelligence of those in the meeting. He also said Bhargava was talking about his charitable endeavors in order to underscore his priorities to Arena Group employees. Media, Bhargava said in the meeting, was "biased." Days later, Bhargava sacked Arena Group CEO Ross Levinsohn, too, causing Levinsohn to angrily resign from the board.

Instacart confirmed on Sunday it was using AI-generated imagery and recipes. The AI images featured physically impossible compositions, unnatural shadows, and strangely blended textures. Other recipes discovered by Reddit users, meanwhile, had the AI-generated images replaced with what appears to be stock photography. Some AI-generated imagery was still live on Instacart's site as of Wednesday. A startup is using text-to-photo technology to create AI imagery based just on menu descriptions to help restaurants build out online menus without paying for photography.

In May 2023, Instacart announced it was partnering with OpenAI to create an "Ask Instacart" AI model that would allow users to ask Instacart questions about what to make for dinner. In that press release, it did not disclose that it would also be adding AI recipes to the site too. AdvertisementMultiple companies have been accused of or admitted to using generative AI imagery in the past year. Reuters reported that large advertising agencies are using generative AI art in advertisements. Wizards of the Coast, a gaming company, apologized after it was caught using generative AI in some advertisements.

Ted Cruz, an Astros supporter, was in attendance for every game the Astros lost. Overall, Nanni finds little evidence of the Ted Cruz curse — with one important caveat that we'll get to. Of the 34 games Nanni confirmed Cruz attended, the teams Cruz supported won 18 times and lost 16 times. Of the six Houston Rockets games Cruz has attended in the NBA, they won five. And despite the Astros flaming out against the Rangers, of the 17 MLB games Cruz has attended, the Astros have won 10.

This mistake drove Friday electricity prices down to negative €203 per megawatt-hour. Finns could actually be paid to use electricity on Friday because of the extremely low prices. AdvertisementA jaw-dropping blunder in Finland's electricity market temporarily sent prices into chaos today — and could result in Finns actually being paid to use electricity. As a result, the price of electricity plummeted to negative €203 per megawatt-hour on Nord Pool, the Nordic region's electricity exchange. Nor does it always appear to pay attention to other signals webmasters code in asking Google not to index their search results. It's why someone advertised how to buy cocaine and fentanyl in Pittsburgh on a National Institutes of Health website. It directs searchers to the Telegram user who offered to sell Insider cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines. The proliferation of drug ads in search results lands amid a growing upswell of discontent with what some users and website owners say is the declining quality of Google Search. For now, a simple Google search leads prospective drug buyers to markets on Telegram.

Hardline Republicans blocked Speaker McCarthy's attempt to bring bills to the floor. The move is seen as payback for McCarthy's deal with Biden last week to raise the debt ceiling. The stalemate resulted in the House adjourning until next Monday and scrapping the remainder of the week's votes. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the dissenting Republicans "team chaos, team dysfunction, and team extreme" in a press conference Thursday morning . Thick smoke from wildfires in Canada has halted or delayed flights at major East Coast airports. Haze from distant wildfires blanketed cities from New York to North Carolina, reducing visibility. Reduced visibility from wildfire smoke will continue to impact air travel today. The smoke originates from over 450,000 acres of active wildfires burning across central and eastern Canada, focused in Ontario and Quebec. Forecasts show the wildfire smoke will continue to impact visibility and air quality for the next 24 to 48 hours, depending on the wind shifts.

The GOP primary base appears to split into two even camps: Trump supporters and those looking for an alternative.
